This past weekend, I drove down to San Diego--along with my partner David Paul--to make a special appearance at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising/FIDM San Diego campus for their Open House. The FIDM Open House is a way for anyone interested in possibly attending FIDM to check out the campus, facilities, classrooms, all the different majors, meet instructors, alumni...It's also away to Meet Me!







As the Official Spokesperson for FIDM, an FIDM instructor and grad, it's always my pleasure to make appearances at some of the campus events to share my story and "How I Got To Where I Am" and how FIDM helped me, of course. I always love going to the FIDM San Diego campus and particularly, San Diego. The campus is conveniently located in Downtown San Diego in the very hip Gaslamp District and VERY adjacent to...







I also like San Diego in that it's like L.A., but with a little bit of natural air conditioning; the weather is always PERFECT. A bonus is that my NIKOLAKI/NV Nick Verreos partner David Paul's family lives there and that's where he grew up so he always finds a chance to visit his mommie :)







When David and I arrived--the night before my appearance at the FIDM San Diego Open House--we had the chance to have a delicious dinner with his mom, Conchita, at Ortega's A Mexican Bistro Restaurant (the Chicken Mole was yummy!) in the Hillcrest neighborhood. The following day was Open House:


















Nick Verreos and 2013 FIDM Valedictorian Angelica Villegas--I had the pleasure of doing a special "pair discussion" with the 2013 FIDM Valedictorian Angelica Villegas, who happens to be from the San Diego area. She was AMAZING; so inspirational and intelligent. Angelica had such great insight in what it takes to be a succesful FIDM student and grad. After our talk, it was time for taking pics and sign some bags. Here are some photos of that:

Last week, I had the pleasure of driving to San Diego with my NV Nick Verreos and NIKOLAKI design/business and life partner David Paul, as well as our little pupster, Benny--to attend the final day of the last Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising/FIDM 3 Days of Fashion 2013 at the FIDM San Diego campus. It's always a treat to come to San Diego since David's family lives there and therefore, it is a nice added bonus to see them...







I have already been to FIDM Orange County, San Francisco and Los Angeles, so this was the last stop on my "Nick FIDM 3 Days of Fashion Summer Tour". As part of my "FIDM 3 Days of Fashion" appearance, I was able to bring some of my NV Nick Verreos and NIKOLAKI dresses/gowns. We checked in the night before at my favorite San Diego hotel, the Solamar Hotel Kimpton San Diego hotel (they allow dogs!)...




Welcome Wine and Chocolates: The Solamar Hotel Kimpton San Diego had a lovely bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon and chocolates in my room as a lovely "Welcome Back Nick".











David and I went to meet up with David's mom, Conchita, his sisters Elise and Marisa and his beautiful nieces Emilie and Samantha. It was an amazing sight to see David's mom as well as his sisters all wearing "NV Nick Verreos" dresses (they bought them all online!). After the photo op, we all dined at Roseville Cozinha. Rock the FIDM San Diego Runway: First things first, we had the "Rock The Runway" competition--selected FIDM San Diego "3 Days of Fashion 2013" attendees competed for various categories like "Best Makeup and Hair", "Haute Hipster", "Best Shoes", "Best Vintage", etc. (pics above). Then, it was time for me to show some of my NV Nick Verreos and NIKOLAKI dresses on model Amanda Fields...


































After my Appearance and Fashion Presentation, it was time for the "Meet-&-Greet":





















Benny Oopsie: Finally--after my appearance, David, Benny and I checked out of our Solamar Hotel and noticed that they hadn't "welcomed" our little Benny when we checked in the day before (left photo above). I tweeted this and well, the Hotel Solamar Kimpton peeps fixed that very quickly, as see on the photo on the right :) (the Valet guys' face says it all...in other words "I'm sorry!"). Don't worry Solamar Hotel Kimpton San Diego, Benny still "Woof-Woof" luvs you:
